CAY-1222: Andrey, thanks for adding the range check. I also can't
reproduce it consistently. It happens once every couple of days. So
looks like a race condition somewhere. So I'll close the Jira and
reopen it if it pops up again.
CAY-1151: Looking at this now.
I am holding on the tag until all of these are closed (or rescheduled).

I should have a bit of time today and tomorrow. My plan is to finish
analyzing/applying some remaining patches, do a preliminary cross
