The compression happens first and then SSL is applied on top, so it is perfectly possible to use both.

Here is the scenario ... We have a database with over 121,000 tables
mapped in cayenne running under an out of the box ROP client server
model.

I am absolutely stunned. How do you manage such a database structure? I can only imagine that Cayenne Modeler runs out of RAM.
