No worries Mike, it's good that we're checking it out to make sure, plus it 
helps me learn/understand how the new and old code fits together.  I spoke with 
Dr. [~kwhitehall] to check/confirm that calc_climatology_season will do what we 
want - as recommended/suggested by Kim I'll write a unit test as well to 
confirm.
