Do you have some specifics that we can throw into a JIRA ticket for those
problems? NetCDF4 installs through conda so it should be rather painless.
Re. dateutils, I thought that was included in Matplotlib (if I'm thinking
of the same imports that you're talking about). I seem to have it installed
in my conda environment. Perhaps at some point we missed updating the
dependencies? Or maybe the recipe changed at some point and that is no
longer being installed.

It looks like I have the following installed:

| -> conda list | grep date

dateutil                  2.1                      py27_2

python-dateutil           1.5                       <pip>
