The checkParameters function in the ParameterSelectCtrl does checks on the
input box values to ensure that the user only enters values within the
permissible range as determined by the currently selected datasets. Currently
it isn't properly testing these values which is resulting in values within the
permissible range to be rejected. This seems to only be the case with negative
numbers.
