Hi Muhammad, Thanks for bringing this up. I agree this is a valuable capability for enterprise users, especially for organizations running production deployments across primary and disaster recovery sites.
Discussing this on the dev mailing list is exactly the right approach, and it’s the recommended place for proposing new features or starting technical discussions in the Cloudberry community. Ultimately, whether such a feature moves forward depends on whether community contributors are interested in designing and implementing it. As far as I know, the Cloudberry ecosystem already provides backup and recovery solutions such as WAL-G and cloudberry-backup. However, I’m not aware of an open-source solution that provides functionality comparable to GPDR for maintaining continuous replication between primary and DR clusters. If anyone in the community knows of an existing open-source approach, it would be great if they could share it here. For what it’s worth, I’m aware that some commercial products built on Cloudberry provide similar disaster recovery capabilities, although those implementations are not currently planned to be open sourced. I’d also be interested in learning more about your use case and requirements, as they could help shape future discussions around this area.
