GitHub user roseduan added a comment to the discussion: [Proposal] Apache Cloudberry as PostgreSQL 19 Extensions
This would be an enormous undertaking. Cloudberry is built by embedding lot of code directly into the PostgreSQL kernel. Some components, such as ORCA, AO/AOCS, and the interconnect, could potentially be decoupled, but much of the remaining code is deeply intertwined and would be very difficult to separate. AI tools might help with this effort, but it would still require a long-term commitment and significant ongoing resources to maintain. I’m also concerned that a codebase of this scale, with millions of lines of code, may exceed what current AI coding tools can handle effectively.
