It's a text file. Just save it to whatever location or file you want, and then import the included keys via the instructions. Frankly though, this is just a verification step that you can do or not do at your discretion. Since you mentioned that you are trying to understand the code, the other option is to just clone the git repo and checkout the 4.1 branch to work from.
