If you upgrade your java 1.7 you may see this error. On CentOS 7 I was running version "java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.79-2.5.5.2.0.1.el7_1.x86_64" and installed updates. Afterward I was on "java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.85-2.6.1.2.0.1.el7_1.x86_64" and this Invalid service principal name arose. I downgraded and the problem went away. I tried this on two boxes.
