Hi Ivan, I'm using zone-wide ceph in 4.5, upgrade to 4.8 version - so it should be supported just fine. I didn't respond to your original email since I had no idea why it would not work.
I'm even using it as we speak in DEV 4.11.2 zone - so that is not the problem.
