According to my reckoning, the build fails with deprecated classes 
switched off.

This is because the ResolverImplTestCase depends upon the deprecated 
o.a.c.components.resolver.ResolverImpl class.

Yes, you're right - I forgot about that. Consider it fixed, I only need
to commit it :)
