Yes, that's true but we decided some months ago to only use
released versions of Ant, so 1.6 is out of question for now.
(Unfortunately as it has this nice import feature...).

The Ant community release 1.6beta on the 30th (http://ant.apache.org/antnews.html). Is a beta release enough or do we have to wait for the final release?

I would suggest to wait avoid betas as well as unreleased and keep in synch with final versions only (unless there is a solid reason to avoid so).
