Incidentally, we just had a bit of a shock with a particular JVM mishandling Unicode.

We had been using some exotic Unicode characters (arrows, etc.) as the @value of submit buttons.
Everything was fine whilst testing (on MacOSX) but when the same content was served from the Linux production box, with a Sun JVM, all of these Unicode characters were mis-encoded.
