I would request that you poll your users. I am not in favor of this.
I don't think there would be any reason to remove these lightweight form handling components from Cocoon. You should expect however that the majority of development effort goes into CForms - but then again, these components are simple enough to live without much shepherding.
+1 AFAIK this are also only very few classes.
