You're right, sounds like a job for Forrest!
...Simpler: add a Forrest output format for it, and have the TOC, map and index files be generated similarly to the current whole-site PDF thing.
In this way each skin could have an optional "simplified" skin that can be used for creating this, alongside the site.
Sounds cool.
And if you use a webapp, you get instand Javahelp :-)
But lacking full-text search, not? Or does Forrest generate Lucene-based indexes now?
