Uh-oh. I wrote this test and it succeeds under 1.4. I hope to have the time to look at it.
The above error message lets me assume that we even found the cause of the original bug description.

Maybe not. I had a look into the testcase sources. Instead of getting only "ABC" what I would expect from the bug description we have both characters events duplicated. Huh?
