http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=31116 Too Many File handles open ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2004-09-09 10:15 ------- cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max 209715 This is the linux 2.6 default value for 2G RAM and is around 10% of RAM in kbytes. The more you increase that value the more RAM will be available for filehandles and can be pushed to rather high values. For garbage collection you should read: http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc1.4.2/ You can try the following to tune the garbage collector: Multiprocessor machine: ======================= 1) "-server -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC" or 2) "-server -XX:+UseParallelGC" Uniprocessor machine: ===================== 1) "-server -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC" or 2) "-server -Xincgc"
