jxtemplate output garbles markup

Hi,
This has come up a few times before without solution.
<jx:out value="{$mybean.data}"/> produces "&lt;test/&gt;" if data 
contains "<test/>".
Using {$mybean.data} yields the same results.

Is there a way around this?
