Doing the actual release is thanks to Maven very simple. I summarized
the necessary steps at

I could test cocoon-databases a little bit and prepare a release.
I would love to have xsp released because this block along with
databases would allow me to start porting old applications to 2.2. Still
there are some unresolved issues with classloader (I think) which I have
no idea how to fix.
