There's a problem with the Ant tests - Maven2 runs 470 tests, whereas Ant only runs 461, so 9 tests are missing. After a lot of debugging, it appears that FileCleaningTrackerTestCase is not being run by Ant. This is because the class is not in any of the Package test classes. Possible fixes: - add FileCleaningTrackerTestCase to org.apache.commons.io.PackageTestSuite (or to the 1.3 test Ant target) - use includes/excludes with <junit> <batchtest>. The first option is less work initially, but is harder to maintain, as it is easy to forget to update the Package test classes (this has already happened). The second option means that new test cases will automatically be picked up. I have attached a build.xml patch which use <junit> <batchtest> to process the tests. The output now looks similar to the Maven test output.
