Guys, this is either an official ASF release or it is not.  My
understanding is that it is a release.  As such, it will be
available on official ASF release mirrors and in the archives in
perpetuity.  We can move it to archive on /dist once 3.0 is out and
we can clearly state in the release notes that the API may change in
3.0; but we can't "remove it" once it is released.
