There is no set policy, but Jorg is right that pretty much all use the same Gimp-generated "logos" other than [math]. Personally, I like the simple, "text-only" logos and the uniformity (which fits with the simple, descriptive names), though I am not going to complain if [ognl] or another component wants to create something different. If [ognl] wants to use a text logo like the others, I could generate one from the GIMP files laying around.
