OK, I will volunteer to ask stupid ones then ;)

+1 to the idea; though all I can personally do to help is ask
questions and try not to make mistakes.  It is probably best for us to
0) give other [math] committers a chance to weigh in
1) get a git-knowledgeable person to volunteer to propose workflow,
setup, etc and work with infra@ to get things set up
