I have first tested to build the site from the source archive using JDK 1.6, but it failed due to a problem with the used checkstyle plugin (6.2). It obviously is compiled for Java 7 (class version 51). This will certainly affect other components as well, but not a blocker for the release imho. Afterwards tested with JDK 1.7 and everything was fine. There are a few checkstyle and findbugs errors which could be fixed as well.
