Thanks Sebb! I used the latest version of the plugin when calling the vote mojo task. I will check if there's an issue in commons-release-plugin or if I simply forgot to update something in [imaging]'s pom.xml or pass some parameter.
I found a couple of other things that need updating in the release-prepare documentation. Will commit it later this week.
