Alex is factually correct about the GSoC timeline.
However, you are certainly welcome to start exploring now (independently
of the GSoC timeline) how you'd like to contribute to the "Commons" project
(of which "Numbers"[1] is but one of its many "components"[2]).
Hence, don't hesitate to browse through the codebase and issues, or ask
questions here and make suggestions on where you think you could help.
