The parent site build now contains a script [1] to localise the shields.io images, so they no longer violate the CSP.
The script runs just after the main site build, and replaces the original references to io.shields.io with references to the downloaded files in a new _shields directory. This seemed like the easiest work-round. No changes are needed to the way the website sources are maintained. Enjoy!
