I personally expected that. We pushed out a release that has to get traction out there (i.e., main players like Jena or Sesame have to validated it). In addition if someone external to those projects (unfortunately currently I don't) wants to send a pull request implementing commons rdf, I' m pretty sure that would be useful. I'm not sure how could it take until we could get real feedback how (un)useful is the commons api; but summer is always a difficult period. In parallel we have the discussion initiated by Alexandre Bertails about the general approach (see thread at http://markmail.org/message/pcimv6znigbs2nhz). His point of view is very valuable. But honestly I'm sure about it, since it'd move the project in a completely different direction.
