Hi All

I think it's been quite a while since the last commons validator release (1.3.1 seems to date from 2006!). However, there have been quite a few bug fixes since then, even if the refactoring into the routines package that was the hope for 1.4 isn't quite complete.

I think it's probably worth doing a new release quite soon, even if not all the routines work is done. I'd propose to do a beta release pretty much immediately, then maybe a final release in a month or so.

(After that, the twin steps of finishing the routines refactoring, and
exposing some of the validators through the incubating Bean Validation podling, can be resumed)

What do people think? Does doing a beta release now make sense? Does anyone want to fix any last remaining bugs before a beta release? And is everyone happy with me taking on the role of release manager, rolling a RC and kicking off the release vote?

Cheers
Nick
