Amjad, Sorry for a late response. The Apache membership has been busy with the annual membership meeting and a lot of mails have fallen into the cracks.
First of all, thank you for wanting to volunteering time to our projects. Secondly, there is no "central planning" of handing out volunteers to projects. Instead, whoever wants to contribute choose one or more projects by themselves. You should choose something that interests you, and my general recommendation, find a "not too big" project initially, since it can be rather overwhelming in the beginning to cope with the large amount of emails, not getting someone to assist you in the right direction and so on. Once you have figured out what you want to work on, check the JIRA issues, see if there is things that are within your capability and reach out to the dev@ mailing list of that project, indicating your desire. In small, mid-sized projects, there will often be someone who will help you get going, if you drive your own progress. Good Luck and Welcome.
