Hmm. If you believe that we are pursuing diversity FOR THE SAKE OF DIVERSITY, you have entirely missed the point. Which is odd, given how many times we've had this conversation, and how many times you've participated in the conversation. Diversity is a very selfish goal - in the sense that we know that greater diversity results in stronger communities, more range of ideas to go into the code, more candidates for committership, and better resulting products. A diverse community has access to a wider pool of contributors. That's just math. To say that we want diversity just so that we can check a box, or so that we can wave a flag, just seems to willfully ignore all of the conversation that's happened around this topic. We want greater diversity because it results in better ideas in the code. If there are people who want diversity for the sake of diversity, as you say, I haven't met any of them - at least, not at Apache. I don't deny that they exist - I have met a lot of them "in the wild", but I don't see anything like that happening here at the ASF. -- Rich Bowen - rbo...@rcbowen.com - @rbowen http://apachecon.com/ - @apachecon
