The tooling team has developed a perspective on missing DOAP files. There are many more missing than you might know especially for PMCs with many, many subprojects plus some of the information in DOAP files like Releases is duplicative of now, much better sources.
One of the steps in joining the ATR Beta at https://releases.apache.org/ is for many, but not most PMCs is to confirm the sub-projects that we identified from a full intake of the ASF’s release history on https://archive.apache.org. You can find that information on https://release-catalog.apache.org/. We focused on active PMCs and were willing to lose the project distinction on those in the Attic. We built initial information from DOAP files and have a bridge in .asf.yaml’s project section that allows for DOAP files to supplement the project information pushed to ATR. This catalog can be a source of truth for releases and includes support for some new standards like CLE and we will land on PURL as soon as the protocol we need is standardized. We have replacement for some of the json files used in projects.apache.org, reporter.apache.org, and your new metrics “boxofclue”. We have not tested that those replacements work. Help PMCs onboard especially confirming project configuration, and help us write ATR documentation.
