I think John's referring to the command line scripts in general. John: CLI consumes those scripts, so they will not be deprecated. Some scripts, like build/run use ANT as the normal command line platform workflow uses ANT, most notably on Android and BBOS, however this is not common across all platforms. If the platform sdk uses ANT, then the scripts will too.
