In septeber 2013 cordova-android changed the dynamic loading of the
content in node_modules to
delivering it's content from git.

Was there any compelling reason to make this change? In
cordova-firefoxos node_modules is delivered
by git too, and there is some discussion to switch to 'npm install'
during create time.
