I always thought a native URI was if the image was retrieved from the ALAssetsLibrary (Photos Album). https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/AssetsLibrary/Reference/ALAssetsLibrary_Class/ and the file URI was the image we dumped into tmp.
