This change would be backwards compatible, so I'm fine not marking it as a
blocker. It would also be a good ticket for someone new to the code to work on,
as it would be hard to get it drastically wrong.
I'll leave as blocker for now, but I'll say I'm +1 on letting it slide until it
has a sponsor.
