Concur on slowness and (intermittent) 500 errors. One thing that I think baffles people is that pages show up as "ImmutablePage" for everyone who isn't logged in. I've heard there's some TextCha setup that you can use to verify editors, so you can make non-logged-in people be able to edit pages. Maybe that would lower the barrier in the meantime?
