changes fails (not all the time, but quite often)

As I said in my 1.0 vote, couch or the test suite sometimes seem to hang for
several seconds without doing anything (system is idling). This leads to tests
taking 115497ms (attachments_multipart) or failing. Triggering the same test
the next time, it's very vast (few hundred ms).
Any ideas?
