Hey, This is my first patch to couchdb. I submitted a pull request via github[1] and I thought I would also ping the list for feedback as well. It wasn't clear to me if I should just submit the pull request or also post it here. Please let me know if there is any reason why this patch couldn't be pulled upstream! I'm also considering backporting the fix to 1.2. Would there be any issues doing that?
