Hi Dave,

Thanks for looking. Your git fu is clearly better than mine. :-)  I have to 
find out where the old 1.2 start script comes from. I guess it is patched by 
some of the build scripts. I'll also try the 1.3.x bin/couchdb.tpl.in.
