Hi Pieter,
{error,emfile} means that CouchDB tried to open a file but had reach its limit
of open file descriptors. The means to increase this is OS-specific but on
Debian/Ubuntu, for example, you can edit /etc/security/limits.conf and increase
the limits there but be sure to enable limits.so in /etc/pam.d/su as CouchDB
su's to 'couchdb' during startup.
