We should probably ask ourself what we want to sacrifice for one or two
distributions.
Most popular distributions keep moving on with library versions and it's just
going to be a pain for package maintainers to have to maintain and keep porting
old versions to new distribution releases.
It sounds a bit like the IE6 problem.
