JetBrains <http://www.jetbrains.com/>, the makers of development tools such as IDEs IntelliJ IDEA, PhpStorm, and AppCode; .NET tools like ReSharper and dotCover; and team tools TeamCity and YouTrack, very kindly offer free copies of their products to developers on active open source projects. CouchDB qualifies, so anyone who is a committer on the project (i.e. who has an Apache id) can claim licences for the tools they need.
If you want to claim a licence for a tool, then go to the Buy & Upgrade page for that tool on the JetBrains website <http://www.jetbrains.com/>, and follow the instructions for an Open Source licence. They vary slightly from one tool to another, but you will need to supply at least your Apache email address and the project name (CouchDB). You will then be sent the details for the CouchDB licence for that tool and can start developing. A few points to note: 1. This is a very generous offer from JetBrains, so it would be good to publicly thank them by tweeting or otherwise sharing the information that they've given you a free licence. 2. The licences are annual, so you will need to renew each year. 3. Each tool has a single licence for the CouchDB project as a whole, so we are all given the same user name and licence code. Please respect JetBrains' trust in us and do not publish this information or pass it on to anyone who is not entitled to the licence. 4. If you want licences for multiple tools, you have to apply for each one separately. If you can use a JetBrains tool, then go get your licence and develop with pleasure. Nick
