yeah, understood. I did it this way to smooth the post-vote work. I"m "just" 
applying these patches to couchdb, though there are some conflicts to deal 
with. I hope to have that completed in the next couple of days. Anywhere you 
see a 'windsor-merge' branch in cloudant public repos, that means I’ve 
completed the work for that project (rexi, mem3, ets_lru, etc). I can’t apply 
these to the ASF repos for a few days as I’m waiting on two 3-day voting things.

I’ve read the patches and so has davisp and janl but more eyes are welcome. 
These are from cloudant’s production system so they are running live on 
hundreds of machines. It’s basically performance enhancements not radical 
feature or api changes.
