Joan Touzet commented on COUCHDB-2296:
--------------------------------------

Thanks for the report.

As far as I can tell, base64.js is used in the old JavaScript test library only.

CouchDB 2.0 will remove futon entirely and replace it with Fauxton, which does
not include this code - JS tests are run from the command line and I don't
believe require base64.js any longer.

I'll ask a Fauxton developer to confirm before closing this ticket.

> Hello,
> I'm writing in regards to Debian Bug
> [#758558|https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=758558]. It seems
> that the file share/www/script/base64.js is licensed under terms that are
> vague enough to perhaps be unenforceable. The license matches no known open
> source license, and though the authors intent is clear to open source it to
> some extent, the question is with what restrictions. Defining it as "free"
> is not enough to meet the DFSG requirements in my mind, and I wanted to raise
> it to your attention in the case that it doesn't match yours either.
