I think a few contributors use that setup. Note that the http://erlide.org 
plugin does not yet support rebar-based projects like CouchDB, so you may not 
get all the features out of the box.

In general Emacs is the editor of choice for the majority of Erlang developers, 
but within the CouchDB dev community you’re likely to find a broad spectrum of 
different editors. Most folks are probably using a more focused editor rather 
than a full IDE. Cheers,
