Thanks Joan! Totally agreed, I didn't mean those to be Roadmap proposals, merely 'justifications', in a sense, of things I saw likely becoming easier for me to "get into" as a consequence of the FDB change over; which helped me lean into really supporting the FDB proposal generally. I also felt they were items not necessarily on the roadmap, and am not sure they should be, so that FDB could make them easier for me was part of what made this FDB proposal appealing. The main points I was making were about "why" this seems like a "good idea" to me: 1) The expectation/understanding that the CouchDB project would be bringing FDB behavior in as a pretty core part of the community/culture as a consequence, and that it appears the teaching materials exist to help us succeed there; 2) The appearance of lowering the learning curve for me to get into exploring that "wishlist" of ideas; 3) The general removal of code that is "required but not a central focus" of the project's spirit in favor of a project that seems to focus more narrowly on that particular job "better", is likely to evolve/improve, and add backend flexibility; 4) The generalized confidence of the champions/supporters that this is likely going to make things better more than it makes things worse. In general I feel like without some kind of change of this kind, the overall database capabilities and future growth of the project would be held back more than helped. I agree with Robert's comment that in addition to the apparent benefits they are already thinking of, making this change also ensures the abstraction layers have been successfully designed and implemented to actually make a change like this. So go team, I'm in favor of "kicking the tires" / "testing" how well all that work and effort that was put into making something like possible has turned out. ------ I hope that clarifies "why" I had that wishlist of items there; I wasn't trying to create a discussion of them on this thread. :-) Thanks! Mike
