>> Proposal: automatic code formatting based on an example eclipse
formater with maven-java-formatter-plugin performed by mvn before each
compilation

thanks for bringing up this issue, again - following your comments on
the ticket I assume I didn't make myself clear :-(

The proposed code formatter has _nothing_ to do with the RAT
functionality. It was just a means to provide a unique source code
formatting.

When I first had a look at the RAT source code I realized that its style
varies from class to class.

The proposed formatter
(http://code.google.com/p/maven-java-formatter-plugin/) takes care of
that. I've created the ticket since I've worked with that tool
professionally among distributed teams working with a different toolset.

Thus I thought it could be useful for ASF/RAT .... since people chase
differences between TAB/spaced indentation :-)

Thanks for all your thoughts and input - I just wanted to give more
context since the ticket is so old.

I'll keep it closed as it is.

Cheers,
Phil
