thanks for bringing up this issue, again - following your comments on the ticket I assume I didn't make myself clear :-( The proposed code formatter has _nothing_ to do with the RAT functionality. It was just a means to provide a unique source code formatting. When I first had a look at the RAT source code I realized that its style varies from class to class. The proposed formatter (http://code.google.com/p/maven-java-formatter-plugin/) takes care of that. I've created the ticket since I've worked with that tool professionally among distributed teams working with a different toolset. Thus I thought it could be useful for ASF/RAT .... since people chase differences between TAB/spaced indentation :-) Thanks for all your thoughts and input - I just wanted to give more context since the ticket is so old.
