While we wait to hear from others, here's a proposal:
- cut a (long-lived) branch named 4.x in the curator repo, which is based
off of the latest 4.x release (4.3.0)
- the 4.x branch becomes the basis of any future 4.x releases
- relevant bugfixes and patches get cherry-picked into 4.x and are released
but otherwise no feature development on 4.x
