Michael Beckerle created DAFFODIL-1974:
------------------------------------------

Summary: Remove now-unnecessary logging call clutter.
                 Key: DAFFODIL-1974
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DAFFODIL-1974
             Project: Daffodil
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Clean Ups
    Affects Versions: 2.1.0
            Reporter: Michael Beckerle
             Fix For: 2.2.0

There are tons of logging calls in Daffodil code that aren't costly (they use
macros to avoid as much overhead as possible), but they also aren't necessary
anymore.

The vast bulk of them do not represent points where we really would want
logging in a deployed system. They are mostly just debug print statements
disguised as logging calls, from way back when we didn't have trace/debug
features.

The logging calls that are sensible for logging purposes should be retained.
The others should be removed.

These statements do sometimes have some documentation value, so if removed, one
should consider replacing them with a comment that makes the same point.

But logging calls should be for logging, and not a replacement for a
trace/debug.
